Keynote Speaker: William J. Carl III, Ph.D.
President, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
Dr. William Carl is President of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and an ethics consultant to major corporations
and Duke University Medical Center. He was Senior Pastor of a 1700 member congregation for 18 years and a
seminary professor in Greek, homilitics and worship.
He holds a B.S. in religion, philosophy, and Greek from the University of Tulsa, a M.Div. from Louisville
Seminary and a Ph.D. in rhetoric/communications from the University of Pittsburgh. He has also been awarded
honorary doctorates in divinity, in humane letters and in science.
Dr. Williams has authored six books and over 50 articles and has preached, lectured or spoken in over 40
states, as well as in seven foreign countries.
Opening Remarks: The Rev. Donald Green
Executive Director, Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania
The Rev. Dr. Donald B. Green is the Executive Director of Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania, a
regional ecumenical association of 25 Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant judicatories. He has served Lutheran
parishes in Hershey and Lancaster PA before coming to Pittsburgh in 1992 to serve a decade as Assistant to
the Bishop, Southwestern PA Synod, ELCA. Green is a graduate of Susquehanna University, B.A. and
Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, M. Div. and D. Min. He serves on numerous boards and facilitates interfaith
dialogues. A member of the McCandless Rotary Club and Allegheny Chapter, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans,
in his spare time he enjoys cooking.
